In an ideal world, every child would have a straightforward education journey and schools would work alongside the local authority, the government and advocacy organisations – but unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen.

The Learn More sections that are spread across the website are there to provide Gypsy, Roma and Traveller families with information about the education system so that things are easier to understand.

We’ve covered the key areas, and you’ll see links to resources, trusted organisations and websites that can provide you with even more information and support.

You’ll also see links to the Find Help sections of the website. These pages will provide you with advice and support on how to resolve an issue within education that you may be having.

You will hear repeatedly that understanding how education works is challenging. Here’s some advice to help you make the most of the Learn More pages.

Take your time when reading through this information.

Ask for support to help understand the information if you need to.

Use the information as a reference when communicating with schools.

Come back and review information again and again if needed.
